I thought my speech went okay and after reading several peer evaluations I was able to find out the things I did well on as well as the things I needed to improve on. When I was saying my speech, I now realize that I was mostly reading off it and that I should have "talked" to the audience more in order to gain more interest. Better eye-contact would also have helped my presentation because although I looked up from my paper every now and then, it would have been more helpful for my speech if I held my gaze and actually looked around the room at the audience. By not speeding up while saying my speech would also have helped me to get my main points across and allow the audience to fully understand what I was trying to say. However, I thought I did a good job on speaking loudly so that everyone in the room could hear me.
I also think I did a pretty good job on emphasizing certain words and gesturing to make different points stand out more. Nonetheless, my speech could have been more smooth if I added more pauses. It might also have sounded a bit confusing or repetitive at times. Therefore, I should work on these different strengths and weaknesses and the peer evaluations helped me to see what my speech was like from the audience's viewpoint. After reading the peer evaluations, I can also tell that along with speaking loudly and clearly, my tones and various emphasis on different words were some of my stronger traits.
